Prataprao Ganpatrao Yadav, the Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge), conducted a visit to Tripura on Thursday, focusing on the state’s healthcare infrastructure and traditional medicine systems.
Minister Yadav’s visit began with a review of the Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Kailashahar. He inspected the facilities and services offered, with a particular focus on Panchakarma therapy and yoga departments. Following his hospital visit, the Minister chaired a meeting at Unakoti Kalakshetra to discuss the functioning of the health department and AYUSH healthcare systems in the state.
Central Government Committed to Northeast India’s Development
During his address, Minister Yadav reiterated the central government’s commitment to the comprehensive development of Northeast India. He emphasized the importance of education and healthcare in achieving this goal and urged all stakeholders to work collaboratively towards building a “developed India” through inclusive growth.
Minister Engages with Healthcare Workers, Patients
The Minister interacted with officials and healthcare workers at the Integrated AYUSH Hospital, gaining insights into various aspects of the health services provided. Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine, Dr. Souvik Debbarma, Joint Director of the Health Department, and Dr. Nupur Debbarma, Member Secretary of NHM, Tripura unit, were among those present during the Minister’s visit.
Recognition for Machmara Primary Health Center
Later in the day, Minister Yadav visited the Machmara Primary Health Center in Unakoti district, which has been recognized by the central government with the National Quality Assurance Certification. He inspected the inpatient and outpatient departments, evaluating the services and infrastructure provided by the facility.
The Minister interacted with doctors, healthcare workers, patients, and their families. He also participated in symbolic gestures by planting an Arjuna tree sapling in the center’s herbal garden and distributing a fruit basket to a tuberculosis patient, along with zinc tablets and ORS packets to children.
Minister’s Visit Part of Outreach Program
The Minister’s visit to Tripura is part of a bi-monthly program where central ministers travel to the northeastern states. He has confirmed that a detailed report on his visit will be submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office. In addition to the healthcare facilities, Minister Yadav’s itinerary included visits to the Pecharthal village committee office, a local Anganwadi center, and the Kinacharan Talukdar Para School at Machmara.
