The Udaipur District Kisan–Shramik Congress submitted a nine-point demand charter to the ADM of Gomati district, urging urgent action on farmers’ welfare, labour rights, fair pricing, and social security issues. Congress leaders seek swift administrative intervention for rural communities.

A delegation of the Udaipur District Kisan and Shramik Congress on Saturday submitted a detailed nine-point demand memorandum to the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Gomati district, calling for urgent action on long-standing issues affecting farmers, labourers, and economically vulnerable communities. The deputation was submitted under the directives of the Tripura Pradesh Congress, signalling a renewed focus of the party on grassroots concerns and agricultural inequities in the region.

The delegation arrived at the District Magistrate and Collector’s office in Udaipur to formally hand over the memorandum. In the absence of the District Magistrate, the ADM received the document and assured the representatives that all demands would be reviewed with due seriousness. Officials informed the delegation that the matters raised would be forwarded to higher authorities for appropriate action, as several of the issues fall under state-level and department-level jurisdiction.

According to the leaders of the Kisan and Shramik Congress, the deputation reflects long-pending concerns that farmers and labourers have repeatedly raised but which have allegedly remained neglected over the years. They emphasised that the objective of the deputation is not only to protect the rightful interests of agricultural labourers and rural workers but also to urge the administration to expedite the resolution of issues that directly affect livelihood security, income stability, and welfare benefits.

The nine-point demand charter includes a set of comprehensive measures aimed at strengthening support for the farming and working-class community. Key demands include the effective implementation of welfare schemes dedicated to farmers and labourers, ensuring timely and fair prices for agricultural produce, and expanding employment opportunities through state-supported job generation initiatives. Leaders also highlighted the urgent need to address deprivation in social security schemes, alleging that many deserving beneficiaries are still excluded due to administrative gaps or delays.

Other demands focus on resolving local issues that stem from inadequate service delivery and slow administrative responses. The delegation emphasised that these bottlenecks have severely impacted rural communities, many of whom depend exclusively on agricultural income and manual labour for survival. They stated that faster administrative action could significantly improve the economic stability of families who have been struggling with inconsistent wages, rising costs, and irregular access to government support.

The Congress delegation included several prominent leaders from the district, such as Pradesh Congress and BC Department vice president Prallad Ghosh, Minority Department district president Roshan Miah, Block Congress president Ranjit Debnath, Youth Congress president Prasenjit Banerjee, and labour leader Rakesh Hossain. The group asserted that their representation reflects the collective concerns of farmers, youth, daily-wage earners, and minority communities who are seeking accountability and urgent administrative attention.

Speaking after the meeting, members of the delegation stressed that the administration must recognise the severity of the issues faced by farmers and labourers. They noted that problems such as delayed payments, inadequate market support, poor implementation of welfare schemes, and lack of access to employment are all part of a larger systemic challenge that requires immediate corrective measures.

They further added that timely government action would not only address ongoing grievances but also help restore trust between rural communities and the administration. The Congress leaders urged officials to ensure that the demands do not remain confined within files and that ground-level action is taken without delay to prevent further hardship to vulnerable groups.

The Additional District Magistrate reassured the delegation that each point listed in the memorandum would be forwarded to concerned authorities for further examination. He acknowledged the significance of the issues raised and said that the district administration remains committed to addressing the concerns of the public in a structured and transparent manner.

Leaders of the district Congress expressed hope that the administration would act promptly, noting that the region’s farmers and labourers have long endured the consequences of delayed policy interventions. They emphasized that resolving these issues would bring substantial relief to families who depend entirely on agricultural and daily-wage activities, ultimately contributing to the district’s social and economic stability.
