Two persons died and three were seriously injured when in a  tragic incident the vehicle carrying them from a picnic plunged into 152 ft deep gorge in Longtharai Hills as the driver lost control on hairpin curve on the hilly serpentine road. The deceased and injured were returning from Jampui Hill after a picnic on Sunday.

Rubel Mian and Litan Rudra Pal –from Bishramganj were killed on the spot as their EECO car met with the accident. The three injured were identified as  Jayanta Sarkar (18), Nayan Debnath (20 and Ajay Bhowmik (17).  Jayanta and Ajay are the residents of Bishramganj and Ajay hails from Khayerpur.

Sources said, the five youth were traveling in the ill fated EECO car towards Ambassa from Jampui Hill. As the car reached Kalitila area in Longtharai Hills. Locals rushed to rescue the passengers, as well as Fire Service personnel, were informed.

Later, Rubel Mian and Litan Rudra pal were found dead and fire service personnel recovered their blood-soaked bodies. Three injured youths were taken to Kulai Hospital – however, one of them was shifted to the GB Hospital as his condition was critical.
