Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of Tripura, Sri Tinku Ray unveiled newly established Dattopant Thengadi Employment Generation Centre of Tripura University in presence of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasign, Registrar, Dr. Deepak Sharma, Annada Shankar Panigrahi of Swadeshi Jagran Manch and other eminent dignitaries on Thursday in the university campus.

The centre has been established in cooperation with Swadeshi Jagaran Manch and the objective is to council and groom budding entrepreneurs of the state and providing them necessary help and consultancy in terms of knowledge and information to generate successful entrepreneurs in the entire Northeastern states.

Speaking on the occasion the minister congratulated the University for taking this timely step and highlighted various employment opportunities which can be tapped by the educated youth of the state. Sri Annada Shankar Panigrai of Swadeshi Jagaran Manch motivated the youth to take up the challenge of entrepreneurship and come out of the loop of dreaming for petty jobs.

Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasign, Vice Chancellor of the university elaborated on the occasion that unemployability of pass out students has become a matter of concern for Universities and he expressed his belief that such centres will be able to successfully address the question.

Dr. Deepak Sharma, Registrar, Tripura University called, this a historic day as this marks a shift in mind-set of the youth from being job seekers to becoming  job providers. He said that the centre will help not only university students but every youth of the state of Tripura and Northeast can reach out to the centre. Prof. Shaon Ray Chaudhury, coordinator of the centre said that the objective of the centre is to mentor students and youth in order to identify and enhance their individual skills and thereby bridging the gap between education and employment. Speaking on the life of Sri Dattopant Thengadi, Prof Utpal Biswas said that Thengadi ji dreamt of a self-reliant India where every youth and every village will be empowered with skills to generate employment for them and expressed happiness that the centre has been named after such a visionary leader.
