The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) and the Department of Power, have announced the successful completion of the Distribution Network Efficiency Improvement Pilot Program. Conducted in collaboration with GIZ and RTI International, this program marks a significant step forward in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of the state’s power distribution network.
The pilot project, launched in the Khowai Electrical Circle, aimed to improve operational efficiency, reduce losses, and enhance service quality, aligning with the Indo-German Energy Program on Energy Transition with DISCOMs. Khowai, known for its high Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses, was chosen as the focus area.
Managing Director of TSECL Biswajit Basu, and Secretary Power Abhishek Singh expressed satisfaction with the program’s outcomes.
“The successful completion of this pilot program demonstrates our commitment to modernizing Tripura’s power distribution infrastructure,” said Basu. He emphasized that the innovations introduced by GIZ and RTI International had equipped TSECL with the tools and knowledge to further improve operations and address consumer billing issues.
Singh, highlighted that the initiative aligns with the broader vision of providing reliable and sustainable electricity across Tripura. He acknowledged the crucial role of GIZ and RTI International in achieving these goals and expressed optimism about applying the program’s outcomes statewide.
A closure workshop held on Wednesday, brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from GIZ, RTI International, TSECL, and the state government . The workshop discussed the program’s findings, achievements, and future steps, emphasizing its positive impact on distribution network efficiency.
TSECL and the Department of Power extended their thanks to GIZ and RTI International for their support and expertise throughout the pilot program. The success of this initiative sets a promising precedent for future projects aimed at transforming Tripura’s power sector, ensuring a brighter and more sustainable future for its residents, opined an engineer engaged with the TSECL.
