Tripura CM Manik Saha announced Rs 5 crore aid for Himachal Pradesh flood relief and flagged off five vehicles carrying essential supplies worth Rs 50 lakh, showcasing solidarity and compassion for disaster-hit communities.
In a strong display of solidarity and compassion, the Tripura government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have come forward to support the flood-affected people of Himachal Pradesh. Following a contribution of Rs 5 crore by the state government to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other leaders on Tuesday flagged off five vehicles loaded with relief materials worth nearly Rs 50 lakh.
The relief convoy, which departed from New Delhi for flood-affected regions in Himachal Pradesh, was virtually flagged off from Agartala by Chief Minister Saha, Tripura BJP Vice-President Subal Bhowmik, State General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, and other party leaders. The initiative reflects the state’s deep commitment to humanitarian values and inter-state solidarity in times of crisis.
CM Saha’s Message of Solidarity
Sharing his message on his official X account, Chief Minister Saha expressed Tripura’s unwavering support for the people of Himachal Pradesh.
“In this difficult time, Tripura Pradesh BJP stands firmly in solidarity with the flood-affected people of Himachal Pradesh. Today, I flagged off relief materials on behalf of Pradesh BJP to extend assistance to those affected by the devastating floods,” he wrote.

Speaking at a programme in front of the BJP’s state headquarters in Agartala, Saha recalled the devastating floods that struck Tripura last year, causing widespread suffering. He stressed that Tripura truly understands the pain of the people of Himachal Pradesh because of its own recent experiences.
“From the government’s side, we have contributed Rs 5 crore to Himachal’s CM Relief Fund. Alongside, the party too must come forward to extend help. Guided by the principle of Seva Hi Dharm, Seva Hi Sangathan, we are sending relief materials worth around Rs 45 to 50 lakh, including blankets and medicines,” Saha said.
Relief Supervised from Delhi
The Chief Minister also noted that Tripura BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee is currently stationed in New Delhi to oversee the dispatch of the relief vehicles. The five trucks, carrying essential supplies, were flagged off under his supervision to ensure smooth coordination with local authorities in Himachal Pradesh.
Spirit of Unity Across India
Dr. Saha underlined that this gesture is not just about aid but about the larger spirit of Indian unity and compassion. He recalled how, during Tripura’s floods last year, people across the country extended their support. “This is the spirit of solidarity India stands for,” he said.
He further emphasised that both the state government and the BJP remain committed to working under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President J.P. Nadda, ensuring that the principles of service and unity remain central in times of crisis.
Expressing Condolences
In a separate post earlier, Saha had expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in Himachal’s devastating floods.
“The recent floods have caused severe damage in Himachal Pradesh. My heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. I also spoke to the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and conveyed our solidarity in this hour of distress. On behalf of the people of Tripura, we stand firmly with our brothers and sisters in Himachal Pradesh,” he had stated.
Aid with Compassion and Responsibility
The dual response—financial aid from the Tripura government and material assistance from the BJP unit—underscores a holistic approach to disaster relief. While monetary assistance will strengthen Himachal Pradesh’s disaster management and rehabilitation efforts, the immediate supply of medicines, blankets, and other essentials will directly help affected communities on the ground.

The initiative has been widely welcomed as a reflection of Tripura’s compassion and its willingness to extend a helping hand despite being a small north-eastern state with its own challenges. It also highlights how states in India, regardless of geographical distance, remain interconnected through shared values of empathy and solidarity.
As Himachal Pradesh battles the aftermath of one of its worst floods in recent memory, Tripura’s timely gesture is being seen as a reassurance that in times of crisis, India stands together as one family.
