The Winter Session of the Tripura state legislative assembly is scheduled to commence on January 10 and will run for three days until January 15, as announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath. The decision was made unanimously during a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) held in Agartala on Wednesday.
Governor’s Address to Mark the Opening
As per tradition, the first assembly session of the calendar year will open with the Governor’s address. Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu is set to deliver his speech on the inaugural day, highlighting the state government’s achievements over the past year while outlining its policies and plans for the future.
Key Agendas for the Session
The Winter Session will witness the tabling of two bills by the state government. While details of the bills remain under wraps, Minister Nath suggested that an additional proposal may also be introduced during the session.
“This session is an opportunity to review the progress made over the past year and discuss the roadmap for development and governance initiatives for the future,” Nath said.
Looking Ahead to the Budget Session
Ratan Lal Nath also mentioned that the Budget Session for the current financial year is expected to begin in March. He emphasized the significance of the upcoming sessions in shaping the state’s policies and addressing pressing issues.
The Winter Session is expected to be a platform for legislators to engage in discussions on critical matters affecting the state, setting the stage for the government’s plans in 2025.
