Tripura Govt and Ramakrishna Mission have signed a landmark agreement to establish North East India’s first School of Languages and Centre for Human Excellence in Agartala. The initiative aims to empower youth through foreign language education, personality development, skill enhancement, and value-based learning, creating a future-ready workforce.
In a major boost to education, skill development, and youth empowerment, the Government of Tripura and Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar, Agartala, have joined hands to establish North East India’s first-ever Ramakrishna Mission School of Languages and the Ramakrishna Mission Centre for Human Excellence. The ambitious initiative is expected to transform the educational landscape of the state while creating new opportunities for the youth in an increasingly globalized world.
The agreement was formally signed between the Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura, and the Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar, in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Several prominent dignitaries were also present, including Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, Secretary of Industries and Commerce Kiran Gitte, OSD to the Chief Minister Paramananda Sarkar Banerjee, and Director of Skill Development Pradeep K.

The initiative is being hailed as a historic step towards strengthening educational excellence and human resource development in Tripura. It also recognizes the significant contribution of the Ramakrishna Mission in promoting education, character-building, value-based learning, and social development across India and particularly in Tripura.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized that the project represents much more than the creation of another educational institution. According to him, the initiative is a visionary effort aimed at preparing Tripura’s youth for the opportunities and challenges emerging from rapid global changes.
In his message, the Chief Minister stated that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to educational excellence and youth empowerment. He highlighted that the teachings and ideals of Swami Vivekananda continue to inspire generations by promoting discipline, character, self-confidence, service to society, and nation-building.

Dr. Saha further noted that Tripura’s strategic importance under India’s Act East Policy has increased significantly in recent years. With expanding international connectivity and growing prospects in tourism, hospitality, international trade, business services, and technology sectors, the demand for skilled professionals with strong communication abilities and foreign language proficiency is steadily rising.
The proposed School of Languages has been designed to address this growing demand. It will offer certificate courses in several globally recognized foreign languages, including German, French, Japanese, and Spanish. Alongside these international languages, courses in important Indian languages such as Sanskrit, Hindi, and Bengali will also be introduced.
Officials said the institution aims to train at least 1,000 students annually through language education and human excellence programmes. The initiative is expected to significantly improve the employability of young people while helping them compete confidently in national and international job markets.
Another key component of the project is the establishment of the Ramakrishna Mission Centre for Human Excellence. The centre will focus on the holistic development of students through a specially designed three-month Personality Development Course. The programme will include lessons based on Swami Vivekananda’s teachings, leadership and management skills, positive thinking, cultural values, self-confidence building, and strengthening willpower.
To promote family participation in the educational process, the centre will also organize Parents’ Motivational Courses and Value Education Programmes. These initiatives aim to strengthen moral values among students and encourage a supportive learning environment at home.

Special workshops will be conducted for students of Classes IX to XII, focusing on academic excellence, effective time management, concentration techniques, and subject mastery. These programmes are expected to help students improve their overall academic performance and prepare for future career opportunities.
The upcoming campus will be equipped with modern educational infrastructure and advanced learning facilities. Plans include a Computer Training Centre, state-of-the-art language laboratories, computer laboratories, smart classrooms, a meditation hall, digital and physical libraries, and a fully equipped seminar hall with audio-visual facilities.
The project will be developed on land owned by the Ramakrishna Mission at Devendra Debnath Road in Dhaleshwar, Agartala. A modern G+3 building covering approximately 15,000 square feet is proposed to accommodate both the School of Languages and the Centre for Human Excellence.
According to government officials, the initiative aligns with the state government’s vision of creating a skilled, employable, and future-ready workforce. Over the years, Tripura has undertaken several programmes aimed at expanding opportunities for young people through education, vocational training, entrepreneurship development, and skill enhancement.
Officials believe that this collaboration with the Ramakrishna Mission marks another important milestone in the state’s journey toward comprehensive human resource development. The institution is expected to emerge as a premier centre of excellence not only for Tripura but also for the entire North-Eastern region.
The project is anticipated to open new avenues for employment, career advancement, and personal growth while equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in a competitive global environment. By combining quality education, language proficiency, personality development, and value-based learning, the initiative seeks to prepare a generation of confident, skilled, and socially responsible citizens.
