Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced rapid progress in establishing a modern international-standard cricket academy and accelerating construction of the Narsingarh International Cricket Stadium. The state government is focusing on advanced training, sports infrastructure development, and better opportunities for young cricketers to strengthen Tripura’s sporting future.
Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to sports development and youth empowerment, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday announced that the establishment of a modern international-standard cricket academy in the state is progressing rapidly. He informed that a suitable site has already been identified for the ambitious project, which is expected to provide world-class training facilities to aspiring cricketers across Tripura.
The Chief Minister also stated that the state government is taking all necessary measures to ensure the timely completion of the international cricket stadium being constructed at Narsingarh. Stressing the importance of quality sports infrastructure, Dr. Saha said that the pace of implementation of the project is being closely monitored and efforts are underway to expedite the remaining work.
Dr. Saha made these remarks while attending a programme for the distribution of 108 cricket kit bags at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. The event was organised by the Tripura Cricket Association with the support of the State Bank of India (SBI). The programme witnessed the participation of cricket enthusiasts, young players, sports officials, and dignitaries from various sectors.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the state government to strengthen the sporting ecosystem in Tripura. He emphasized that sports play a crucial role in shaping disciplined, confident, and healthy youth, and therefore the government is investing significantly in the development of sports infrastructure and training facilities.
Dr. Saha noted that the proposed international-standard cricket academy would create opportunities for talented young players to receive advanced coaching and professional guidance without having to leave the state. He added that such facilities would help identify and nurture local talent, enabling them to compete successfully at national and international levels.
The Chief Minister further said that the government is working to create a supportive environment where promising athletes can realize their full potential. Alongside infrastructure development, efforts are being made to improve access to modern training methods, equipment, and professional mentorship for sportspersons.
Speaking about the broader vision of sports development in the state, Dr. Saha said that Tripura aims to establish a stronger presence on the national sports map. According to him, the development of modern sports facilities and the promotion of a vibrant sporting culture will play a key role in achieving this objective.
“Talented players deserve better opportunities and facilities. Our government remains committed to supporting them and ensuring that they receive the necessary resources to excel in their respective fields,” the Chief Minister said.
He further emphasized that youth development remains one of the government’s top priorities. By encouraging participation in sports and creating modern infrastructure, the administration seeks to channel the energy and talent of young people in a positive direction.
The distribution of cricket kit bags was welcomed by aspiring cricketers, who expressed optimism about the government’s continued support for sports.
