The Tripura Govt has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the mysterious death of Manisha Das, a young employee of Shantiniketan Medical College, Agartala. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation amid allegations of murder, public concern, forensic examination, and ongoing police efforts to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.

The Tripura Government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the mysterious death of a young woman employed at Shantiniketan Medical College in Agartala, a case that has triggered widespread public concern and allegations of foul play from the deceased’s family.

According to an official order issued by the state government, Dr. Vishal Kumar, District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura district, has been entrusted with conducting a detailed inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Manisha Das, a resident of Kathaltali in the Madhuban area under Amtali police station.

The government has directed the District Magistrate to examine all aspects related to the incident and submit a comprehensive report to the Home Department within 15 days. The inquiry is expected to collect evidence, record statements from relevant individuals, and review all available information to ascertain the facts leading to the young woman’s death.

The incident came to light late on the night of June 10 when Manisha Das, aged 22, was found dead inside a room of the girls’ hostel at Shantiniketan Medical College. Initial reports indicated that her body was discovered hanging inside the room under circumstances that remain unclear.

The death has sparked intense reactions from the victim’s family members, who have strongly rejected the possibility of suicide. Speaking to the media, family members alleged that Manisha was murdered and demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the case.

Her mother claimed that the young woman was frequently compelled to stay at the institution during nighttime hours. The family also alleged that Manisha may have become aware of certain confidential matters related to the institution, which they believe could have contributed to the circumstances leading to her death.

Officials from Shantiniketan Medical College stated that Manisha had previously worked as a caretaker and was later employed as an assistant in the institution’s Examination Cell. College authorities have expressed their willingness to cooperate with investigators as the inquiry progresses.

Following the discovery of the body, personnel from Amtali police station, along with a forensic team, rushed to the scene and initiated preliminary investigations. The body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police officials have confirmed that an investigation is underway and that all possible angles are being examined. Authorities are awaiting the results of the autopsy and forensic analyses, which are expected to play a crucial role in establishing the sequence of events and determining whether any criminal act was involved.

Adding another dimension to the case, SDPO Amtali Paramita Pandey addressed the media and stated that preliminary observations had raised suspicions about the nature of the death. According to her, prima facie evidence suggested the possibility of murder, although investigators are awaiting scientific and medical reports before reaching any final conclusions.

Pandey informed reporters that the room where the body was found was locked from inside. She stated that hospital staff members and students had to break open the door before discovering the mortal remains. Despite this, investigators have not ruled out any possibility and are continuing to examine all available evidence.

The SDPO further revealed that one individual was detained for questioning shortly after the incident. Preliminary investigations also indicated that Manisha had reportedly been involved in an altercation with one of her friends on the night before her death. Investigators are currently examining whether the reported dispute has any connection to the case.

The government’s decision to order a magisterial inquiry reflects the seriousness of the incident and growing public demand for transparency. With both police and administrative investigations now underway, authorities are expected to conduct a comprehensive examination of the facts.

As the family continues to seek justice and answers, the state awaits the findings of the post-mortem report, forensic analysis, and magisterial inquiry, which are expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Manisha Das.
