Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha criticizes Tipra Motha’s “threat-based politics,” asserting that divisive tactics will fail as the BJP expands its influence in TTAADC areas. He highlights peace, development, and growing Janajati support under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday delivered a sharp and indirect criticism of coalition partner Tipra Motha, accusing it of practicing divisive and intimidation-driven politics in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) region. Speaking at a major organisational programme at Barakathal Bazar under the Simna Assembly Constituency, the Chief Minister asserted that politics built on threats, confusion, and communal provocation would never succeed, especially in a state moving steadily toward inclusive development.
The event, organised by the Simna Mandal of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), witnessed the joining of 107 families comprising 312 new supporters, a development that Dr. Saha described as a testament to increasing trust in the BJP’s governance model.
In a direct reference to allegations that national political parties should not be allowed to enter tribal areas, Dr. Saha said that such intimidatory statements only strengthen the BJP’s resolve.
“We often hear threats. So let me make it clear: the more threats are issued, the stronger we will become. I have heard that in Barakathal Bazar no political activities will be permitted, the Chief Minister will not be allowed to visit, and even the Janajati Welfare Minister will not be allowed to enter. But this place is not anyone’s personal property. It belongs to everyone,” he said.

Dr. Saha further added that the BJP would never bow to political pressure or fear tactics. “Any political party can go anywhere. But the Bharatiya Janata Party will not tolerate intimidation through force or coercive pressure,” he stated.
Reaffirming the party’s commitment to national integration and community harmony, the Chief Minister invoked the legacy of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, emphasising that the BJP has historically fought to protect the unity and integrity of India.
The Chief Minister stressed that the BJP had no conflict with regional parties but strongly opposed any politics that encouraged confusion, division, or communal sentiments. “This kind of politics has never yielded positive outcomes. Development cannot happen through divisive strategies. Our doors remain open for those misled by misinformation. I urge them to join the BJP and be part of a rising political graph in Tripura,” he said.
Dr. Saha also pointed out that the North East had witnessed a sustained period of peace under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. “Earlier, many youths, particularly from the Janajati communities, were drawn towards extremism because they did not know who genuinely cared for their welfare. Some leaders misled them for personal gain. But today, 11–12 major peace agreements have been signed across the North East,” he stated, highlighting a renewed atmosphere of stability.
He credited the Prime Minister for recognising the contributions of Tripura’s tribal leaders. “Seven eminent personalities from the Janajati community have received the Padma Shri award consecutively due to the government’s relentless efforts,” he said.
Listing key government initiatives for indigenous communities, Dr. Saha recalled the renaming of Agartala Airport after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, expanding the government holiday for Garia Puja from one day to two days, and declaring Saangrama Puja as a restricted holiday.
The programme saw participation from several top leaders, including Janajati Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, BJP General Secretary Bipin Debbarma, West District Sadar Grameen President Gauranga Bhowmik, Janajati Morcha Vice President Mangal Debbarma, and Lefunga RD Block BAC Chairman Ranbir Debbarma.

In a concluding message to all Janajati communities, the Chief Minister stressed that building a “One Tripura, Best Tripura” was only possible through collective efforts. He urged people not to be misled by politically motivated narratives but to join hands with the BJP for authentic development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
