Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha will participate in the 73rd North Eastern Council (NEC) Plenary Session in Shillong, highlighting investment promotion, regional connectivity, infrastructure development, and economic growth. The meeting, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, aims to strengthen cooperation and accelerate development across Northeast India.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is set to participate in the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong on Wednesday, where discussions on regional development, infrastructure expansion, connectivity enhancement and economic growth are expected to take center stage.

The high-level meeting, regarded as one of the most important policy forums for the northeastern region, will be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The session will bring together Governors, Chief Ministers, senior government officials and policymakers from all northeastern states to review developmental priorities and formulate strategies for accelerating growth across the region.

Ahead of the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha informed the media that he would make two significant presentations during the plenary session. The first presentation will focus on attracting greater investment to the Northeast, while the second will address regional connectivity challenges and the need for comprehensive infrastructure development.

According to officials, Dr. Saha is expected to present Tripura’s perspective on creating a more investment-friendly environment in the region. His presentation is likely to emphasize the importance of improving ease of doing business, strengthening industrial infrastructure and promoting opportunities in sectors with high growth potential.

The Chief Minister is also expected to underline the critical role of connectivity in driving economic development. He is likely to stress that improved road, rail, air and digital infrastructure are essential for unlocking the vast economic potential of the Northeast and integrating the region more effectively with national and international markets.

Addressing existing connectivity gaps, Dr. Saha is expected to advocate for enhanced transportation networks and seamless movement of goods and people among northeastern states. Improved connectivity, he believes, can significantly contribute to trade expansion, tourism growth and overall economic prosperity.

Officials from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), NITI Aayog and other central agencies are also expected to participate in the deliberations. Their presence is expected to facilitate discussions on policy implementation, infrastructure funding and long-term development planning.

The NEC plenary session serves as a crucial platform for states to exchange ideas, discuss common challenges and strengthen inter-state cooperation. The meeting is expected to focus on strategies aimed at transforming the economic landscape of the Northeast through sustainable development, improved infrastructure and increased investment.
