Asian Development Bank (ADB) delegation met Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha in Agartala to review the upcoming TULIP urban development project. The initiative aims to improve urban livability, water infrastructure, and smart city facilities through coordinated implementation by key state agencies.
A high-level delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) met Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha in Agartala on Friday to discuss the upcoming Tripura Urban Livability Improvement Project (TULIP), a major urban infrastructure initiative aimed at improving civic amenities and sustainable development across the state.
The meeting was held at the TIFT Conference Hall in the presence of senior ADB officials and top state government representatives. The ADB mission was led by Manoj Sharma, Director of Water and Urban Sector at ADB. Other members of the delegation included urban development specialist Sorin Chung, senior project officer Bhavesh Kumar, safeguard specialist Bing, along with several technical experts and officials from the Tripura government.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha reviewed the progress and planning of the proposed TULIP project, which is expected to focus on urban livability, infrastructure modernization, water management systems, and sustainable city development. According to official sources, the project will be implemented jointly by the Agartala Municipal Corporation, Tripura Urban Development Authority (TUDA), and the Jal Board.

The discussions also emphasized improving public infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for residents in urban areas. Officials explored strategies related to urban planning, civic services, environmental safeguards, and smart infrastructure development under the proposed ADB-funded initiative.
Before the meeting with the Chief Minister, the ADB delegation visited several important development sites under the Agartala Smart City Mission on Thursday. The team inspected the MBB College Lake redevelopment project and the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) project managed by Agartala Smart City Ltd. The inspection aimed to assess the ongoing progress of smart city initiatives and understand the infrastructure model currently being implemented in the state capital.
The visiting delegation was accompanied during the inspections by senior state officials, including the Secretary of the Urban Development Department, the Commissioner of TUDA, the Chief Executive Officer of Agartala Smart City Ltd., and other concerned authorities.
Sharing details of the meeting, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha stated that the upcoming TULIP initiative funded by ADB was reviewed extensively in the presence of the visiting delegation and government officials at the TIFT Conference Hall.

The proposed TULIP project is expected to become a significant milestone in Tripura’s urban transformation efforts. Officials believe the initiative will strengthen urban infrastructure, improve public service delivery, and support sustainable development goals in rapidly growing municipal regions across the state.
The meeting also highlighted the growing collaboration between the Tripura government and international development agencies in accelerating infrastructure development and promoting modern urban governance in the northeastern region.
