Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha provided Rs 4 lakh financial aid to the family of a deceased farmer in Sabroom, announced a monthly stipend and Antyodaya benefits, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable farming families through swift welfare measures.

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha extended financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the bereaved family of late farmer Sanjib Das of Indira Panchayat under Sabroom subdivision. The aid was handed over on Thursday as part of the state government’s rapid-response welfare initiative, Mukhyamantri Samipeshu.

According to official sources, Sanjib Das, a sharecropper by occupation, tragically lost his life in a recent accident that plunged his family into distress and uncertainty. Upon receiving information about the incident, Chief Minister Dr. Saha promptly instructed the South Tripura District Magistrate to take immediate steps to support the grieving family, highlighting the administration’s commitment to public welfare and responsive governance.

During the Mukhyamantri Samipeshu programme held on Thursday, Dr. Saha personally met Bandana Das, the widow of the deceased farmer, and presented her with the Rs 4 lakh financial aid, ensuring that the support reached the family without delay. The programme, known for bridging the gap between the administration and the public, once again demonstrated its effectiveness in delivering timely assistance directly to citizens facing crises.

In addition to the one-time financial grant, the Chief Minister announced an Rs 4,000 monthly stipend for one of the couple’s two daughters, ensuring ongoing support for the continuation of her education and well-being. Further, the family will soon be included under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, which guarantees subsidised food grains and other long-term welfare benefits for economically vulnerable households.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha reaffirmed his government’s unwavering support to the farming community, stating, “We are fully with this farmer’s family and will continue to support them in every possible way. It is our responsibility to stand with those who contribute to the backbone of our society.”

He further emphasised the purpose of the Mukhyamantri Samipeshu initiative, describing it as a continuous effort to strengthen communication between the government and the people. “Every voice matters, and we are committed to making a difference by directly addressing people’s grievances. Today, we held another session of Mukhyamantri Samipeshu, an initiative designed to bridge the gap between the government and the public. Let us all work together towards a brighter Tripura,” Dr. Saha said.

The Chief Minister’s timely intervention has brought immediate relief to the Das family, which had been grappling with emotional loss and economic uncertainty. Local residents and community members expressed their appreciation for the government’s proactive approach and the Chief Minister’s personal involvement in ensuring swift assistance.

Officials present at the event noted that the prompt release of financial aid and the assurance of long-term welfare inclusion were made possible through the direct monitoring of the Chief Minister’s Office. The Mukhyamantri Samipeshu platform, introduced to allow citizens to raise concerns directly before the Chief Minister, has become a crucial mechanism for identifying urgent cases and ensuring prompt redressal.

Sanjib Das, known among villagers as a hardworking sharecropper, had been the primary breadwinner of his family. His unexpected demise not only created emotional turmoil but also left the future of the family uncertain. The government’s intervention, therefore, has been widely welcomed as a much-needed step towards stabilising the family’s immediate needs and future prospects.

Welfare officials added that the inclusion of the family under the Antyodaya scheme will ensure sustained access to essential commodities and entitlements, offering long-term security to the widow and her children. The monthly stipend for the daughter is expected to support her education, thereby preventing any interruption in academic pursuits due to financial hardship.

The Chief Minister reiterated that similar cases involving vulnerable families will continue to receive urgent attention from the state administration. The government, he said, remains committed to protecting the welfare of farmers, labourers, and economically weaker communities who form the backbone of Tripura’s social and economic structure.
