Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha says BJP’s strength lies in grassroots leadership and Pristha Pramukhs. Addressing a Mohanpur conference, he stresses trust, discipline and cadre-based organisation as the key to electoral success in Tripura.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will continue to grow stronger by placing unwavering trust in its grassroots leadership, particularly its Pristha Pramukhs and booth-level workers, who form the backbone of the party’s organisational structure.
Addressing the Pristha Pramukh conference organised by the Mohanpur Mandal in West Tripura district, the Chief Minister said the BJP’s strength lies in its deep connection with ordinary people and its disciplined, cadre-based system. The conference brought together booth committees, leaders from various frontal organisations and cells, and over a thousand grassroots workers from the constituency.
A Pristha Pramukh is a BJP worker entrusted with the responsibility of a single page of the electoral roll in a specific area, making them the party’s most direct link to voters. According to the Chief Minister, these workers play a decisive role in ensuring electoral success by maintaining personal contact with every household.

“Our party is different from others. We are not confined to hollow ideological slogans. We come from among the people and work for the people. I never want to forget my roots,” Dr. Saha said, while contrasting the BJP’s approach with that of Left parties. He emphasised that humility, discipline and service-oriented politics have helped the BJP expand its base across Tripura.
The Chief Minister credited Power and Agriculture Minister and local MLA Ratan Lal Nath as the main architect behind the successful organisation of the conference. Recalling his own political journey, Dr. Saha spoke about his rise within the BJP after joining the party, highlighting how grassroots experience shaped his leadership.
“After joining the BJP, I worked as a pracharak and later took on responsibilities as a Pristha Pramukh and during the membership drive. At one point, I said I could enrol three lakh members, but the party eventually enrolled nearly seven lakh members across the state,” he said, describing it as evidence of the party’s expanding public support.
Dr. Saha also launched a sharp attack on the Communist parties, alleging that despite their repeated claims of democratic values, their past governance record in Tripura was marked by violence and intimidation. Recalling incidents during the CPI(M) regime, he referred specifically to the Kalyanpur incident in Khowai district, where 26 innocent people, including children and elderly citizens, were killed by militants.

“I was deeply shaken during my recent visit to Kalyanpur. Even today, there is strong public anger over that barbaric incident. During the CPI(M) rule, violence, especially around elections, was rampant and people lived in fear,” the Chief Minister alleged.
Emphasising organisational discipline, Dr. Saha said that trust must be built at every level of the party, from Pristha Pramukhs to mandal and district presidents. Only through mutual confidence and coordination, he said, could the BJP ensure long-term political stability and electoral success in Tripura.
He expressed strong confidence in the party’s national leadership, naming BJP National President J.P. Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as guiding forces whose vision continues to strengthen the organisation from the grassroots to the national level.
The conference witnessed the participation of BJP state President Rajib Bhattacharjee, former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha Member Biplab Kumar Deb, Minister Ratan Lal Nath, BJP state General Secretaries Amit Rakshit and Bhagaban Das, along with several senior leaders and office bearers.

In his message to party workers, Dr. Saha underlined that silent dedication, discipline and unity among Pristha Pramukhs and booth-level workers are the real driving forces behind every BJP victory. He expressed confidence that with their continued support, the party would achieve decisive victories in upcoming elections, including autonomous council and other key polls, with record margins.
