Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha meets BJP leader Nitin Nabin in New Delhi to discuss organisational strategy, governance, and development initiatives ahead of the BJP national president election scheduled for January 20, 2026.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday held an important political and developmental meeting with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Working President Nitin Nabin in New Delhi, as the ruling party prepares for the formal election of its new national president.
According to party sources, all Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states have been summoned to the national capital from January 19 to January 22 as part of the organisational process leading up to the election of the BJP’s national president. Responding promptly to the party’s directive, Dr. Saha arrived in New Delhi on Sunday afternoon and soon after met Nitin Nabin, who is widely expected to take over as the party’s national president.
The meeting focused on a detailed review of political organisation, governance priorities, and ongoing development initiatives in Tripura. Dr. Saha described the interaction as productive and forward-looking, highlighting the importance of strong coordination between the party’s central leadership and state governments.
Speaking after the meeting, the Chief Minister said that discussions covered the strengthening of the party’s organisational structure in Tripura, the performance of government welfare schemes, and future development strategies aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that Tripura remains committed to inclusive growth, infrastructure expansion, and effective governance under the BJP-led government.
Dr. Saha also formally extended an invitation to Nitin Nabin to visit the holy land of Mata Tripurasundari, one of the most revered spiritual sites in Tripura. The invitation was extended as part of efforts to showcase the state’s cultural heritage, religious significance, and development progress to the national leadership.
In a message shared following the meeting, Dr. Saha stated that the interaction reflected the party’s collective commitment to organisational discipline and development-oriented governance. He reiterated that Tripura has made notable strides in sectors such as connectivity, healthcare, education, and social welfare, and these efforts will continue with greater momentum.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has officially announced the schedule for the election of its national president. As per the declared programme, nominations for the post will be filed on Monday. The scrutiny of nominations and the withdrawal process will also be completed on the same day. The official declaration of results and announcement of the new BJP national president are scheduled for January 20, 2026.
The election process will be conducted at the BJP’s national headquarters in New Delhi. Party insiders have indicated that the election is likely to be uncontested, with Nitin Nabin expected to be the sole candidate for the post. If elected, he will become the youngest national president in the history of the Bharatiya Janata Party, marking a significant generational shift in the party’s leadership.
Political observers believe that the meeting between Dr. Saha and Nabin underscores the BJP’s emphasis on coordination between the Centre and states ahead of major organisational transitions. It also highlights Tripura’s growing importance within the party’s national framework, particularly due to its governance record and strategic role in the Northeast.

The visit of Chief Ministers to New Delhi is also seen as an opportunity for the central leadership to assess the political climate in different states, review governance models, and prepare a unified roadmap ahead of upcoming elections. For Tripura, the meeting signals continued central support for development initiatives and organisational strengthening.
As the BJP moves closer to finalising its new national leadership, interactions such as these are expected to play a key role in shaping the party’s future political and governance strategies at both national and state levels.
