Tripura Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha highlighted the state’s rapid digital transformation during a NICSI workshop in Agartala. MoUs signed with NIT Agartala and Techno India University will strengthen cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and IT education, boosting innovation, governance efficiency, and investment opportunities across the state.

Tripura is rapidly emerging as a digitally empowered state with technology-driven governance transforming administrative functioning across all levels, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha said while inaugurating a one-day workshop at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala on Friday.

The workshop was organized under the initiative of the National Informatics Centre Services Incorporated (NICSI), functioning under the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Tripura government. The programme aimed to promote digital advancement across the country and create greater awareness among the younger generation regarding emerging technologies and digital governance.

During the event, significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between NICSI, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala, and Techno India University. The agreements are expected to strengthen technical education and skill development in key areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), and information technology.

The MoUs were formally signed by NICSI Managing Director Alok Tiwari, NIT Agartala Director Dr. S.K. Patra, and Techno India University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha. The collaboration is expected to create new opportunities for students, researchers, and professionals while contributing to the development of a skilled workforce capable of meeting future technological challenges.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha said that NICSI has played a vital role in building robust digital infrastructure across the country, enabling governments to adopt more efficient, transparent, and technology-oriented administrative systems.

He emphasized that Tripura has made remarkable progress in digital governance in recent years. According to him, administrative meetings at various levels, including Cabinet meetings and village-level review discussions, are now being conducted in a paperless manner, reflecting the state’s commitment to modern governance practices.

Sinha further stated that digital systems have been implemented across all government departments in Tripura, resulting in improved service delivery and greater convenience for citizens. He noted that the adoption of technology has enhanced transparency, reduced paperwork, and increased administrative efficiency.

Highlighting the state government’s efforts to improve the ease of doing business, the Chief Secretary referred to the launch of the “SWAGAT” portal. Developed through inter-departmental coordination, the portal was designed to attract investment and simplify business-related procedures. He informed the audience that the innovative model has drawn interest from several other states, demonstrating Tripura’s growing reputation as a leader in digital governance initiatives.

Encouraging students and young professionals to actively participate in the technological revolution, Sinha urged them to develop innovative ideas and solutions based on artificial intelligence and emerging digital technologies. He assured that the state government would extend full support to initiatives that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven development.

The workshop also featured addresses by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests R.K. Shyamal, NICSI Managing Director Alok Tiwari, NIT Agartala Director Dr. S.K. Patra, and Techno India University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha. Speakers emphasized the importance of collaboration between government institutions, educational organizations, and technology partners in creating a digitally empowered society.
