Tripura-Akhangkha-Ukraine

Akhangkha Bhowmik the medical student from Tripura who got trapped in Kharkiv in eastern part of Ukraine, also the flashpoint of war, managed to cross the highly dangerous and chaotic long route inside Ukraine and cross over to Poland.  Now she would be flown to India by Indian authorities. Akhangkha informed the media via whatsapp that the she was already in Poland. The news came as a great relief as the Indian authorities on Wednesday asked all the Indians to leave Kharkiv by any means before 6 pm , which is Indian time 9 pm.

Besides her one more Medical students of Tripura studying in Ukraine managed to board a train to leave the war-torn country. Amidst mounting uncertainty and panic, Koushik Dey of Matabari area in Udaipur and a son of a BSNL staff, Kartik Dey was staying in a banker since the war broke out as per directives of the Indian Embassy in Ukraine.

 Speaking to our correspondent in Udaipur, the uncle of Koushik said, “Koushik and others were facing serious food and drinking water crisis. Around two days ago, Indian Embassy when contacted advised them to stay at the banker or they may go outside at their own risk. At last Koushik along with some other Indians made a desperate attempt. They came out of the banker and managed to board a train at around 11 am (Indian Time on Tuesday”.

However, the family members are worried about Koushik as they were unable to contact him any further. “It is only Whatsapp message through which he can communicate with us but we are unable to know anything about his whereabouts”, the uncle of the student said.   

Family members of Koushik met the DM of Gomati and minister Pranajit Sigha Roy with a prayer to take initiative for bringing back Koushik and others safely.
