A total of  3,37,042 children were administered two drops of pulse polio each even as the state government carried out a special drive for pulse polio immunization of children below 5 years. The immunization had begun on Feb 27 and ended on March 1 last.

The drive covered all eight districts with an average success rate of 101.87 percent, an official report said.

In West Tripura district highest 66607 children were administered pulse polio followed by 29948 in Khowai, 26986 in Unakoti, 36979 in Gomati, 45237 in North Tripura, 35969 in South Tripura, 47660 in Dhalai and 47656 in Sepahijala district.

The pulse polio immunization programme was carried out in 3621 booths of the state on the Day 1. The health and ASHA workers then visited door to door and administered pulse polio to the left-out children on February 28 and March 1 next.

 

On Day 1, total 214993 children were immunized while the figures for Day 2 and Day 3 are 87311 and 34738. Of the total 337042 children, 213579 were administered Pulse Polio in booths.

The Integrated Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) Programme was a part of the “Swasth Tripura, Shresth Tripura” campaign formally launched by Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb at Muktadhara auditorium in Agartala on February 24 last.

Meanwhile, a special drive with an aim to make the state free of Tuberculosis and Anaemia has been launched across the state on Wednesday last.

As part of the special drive, intensive screening for TB and Anaemia along with T3 (Test, Treat and Talk) camps are being held in various schools covering all eight districts of the state.
