The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) temporarily suspended the party programmes including mass gatherings in the state complaining lack of security of the party leaders and workers.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday evening the Congress leader and also the ex-BJP MLA Ashish Kumar Saha said that the decision of suspending party programmes for a few days had come up in view of lack of security.
He alleged that since the last few days the ruling BJP party had started plotting ‘terror tactics’ across the state against the Congress leaders.
“Despite our state in charge Ajoy Kumar had met the DGP and demanded security arrangements for the party leaders, police failed to do that,” Saha said.
He said that the Congress wanted to meet the Governor of the state, but as his health condition was not permitting, party had written to him and apprised him of the terror tactics where the general people of the state felt insecured.
“While the delegation of All India Congress Committee is to arrive here in Tripura soon, we kept our party programmes suspended for a week,” adding to this the Saha said that the party would later sit to decide the next course of action regarding the resumption of party programmes.
