In an effort to encourage public participation and provide the younger generation with a personal understanding of police operations, the Tripura Police launched a unique initiative on Monday. Students from various state government schools in the West district were invited to different police stations as part of Tripura Police Week 2025. This innovative program allowed students to assume the roles of police officials for a day, including Superintendent of Police (SP) and Officers-in-Charge, offering them firsthand experience of the daily responsibilities and challenges faced by law enforcement.

West Tripura District Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar shared with reporters, "This program is part of Tripura Police Week 2025. It aims to provide young people with a comprehensive understanding of police operations and the process of handling public complaints, thereby fostering trust and cooperation between the police and the community. This initiative will also inspire students who aspire to join the police force in the future."

The program was designed to demystify the police force and encourage students to explore careers in law enforcement. During their day as police officials, students engaged in various activities, including patrolling, managing public inquiries, and learning about investigation procedures. They were also briefed on the importance of maintaining law and order and the ethical responsibilities that come with being a police officer.

One of the students, Tabassum Chakraborty, who played the role of West Tripura SP for the day, expressed her excitement, stating, "It feels like I have taken a step closer to my long-standing dream. I want to become an IPS Officer and work for the welfare and protection of women who face various atrocities."

A similar program was held at Arundhati Nagar Police Station, where students were given a tour of the facility and introduced to the different departments within the station. The Officer-in-Charge of AD Nagar Police Station shared with reporters, "Today's awareness camp introduced students to various aspects of police work, including the daily responsibilities and challenges faced by police officers. They learned about the processes involved in receiving and addressing complaints, giving them a clear picture of how complainants are treated and how their grievances are managed. This hands-on educational approach helped demystify the police force, allowing students to gain a deeper appreciation for law enforcement efforts within their community."

Additionally, students were educated on several critical topics, including crimes involving children, measures to ensure women's safety, precautions while using social media, adherence to traffic rules, and anti-drug laws. Police officials announced plans to conduct similar awareness camps in the coming days, aiming to reach more students and further strengthen the relationship between the police and the community.
