The state government has announced an ambitious initiative to develop satellite towns in Agartala, Udaipur, and Dharmanagar, aiming to enhance urban infrastructure and foster balanced regional growth. Speaking at the Sharad Samman 2024 event hosted by the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) at Rabindra Centenary Hall, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha highlighted the transformative vision behind the project, emphasizing unity and collective action under the slogans “One Tripura, Best Tripura” and “One Agartala, Best Agartala.”

The event, celebrating excellence in Durga Puja festivities, recognized outstanding clubs and committees for achievements in various categories, including best idol, best theme, best pavilion, best lighting, and best women-led Puja. The Chief Minister, along with other dignitaries, distributed intricately crafted trophies and cash prizes to the winners representing 51 AMC wards.

In his address, the Chief Minister attributed the progress of Tripura to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Act East” policy, designed to prioritize the development of northeastern states. He pointed out significant advancements in transportation connectivity, including air, rail, and national highways, which have bolstered the state’s economic landscape. “Tripura’s GDP and per capita income have seen remarkable growth,” he stated, noting the state’s recognition as the Best Performer State in the region.

Reflecting on last August’s devastating floods, he praised the coordinated efforts of residents and the administration in managing the crisis. “The people of Tripura trust in the government’s ability to overcome challenges,” he affirmed, commending AMC for spearheading various developmental projects.

Tourism and Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury stressed that robust governance and improved law and order are the cornerstones of sustainable development. He highlighted how enhanced security has encouraged a surge in Durga Puja and Ganesh Puja celebrations across the state. “Fear used to cloud Vijayadashami in the past, but now we have scientifically managed immersion processes,” he added, urging collective efforts to transform Agartala into a model smart city.

MP Rajib Bhattacharya, a guest of honor, remarked on the state’s journey of progress driven by inclusive governance. He outlined plans for making Tripura self-reliant, contributing to a self-reliant India, and advocated for a drug-free society through community participation.

In his presidential address, Deepak Majumder, Mayor of AMC and MLA, detailed ongoing beautification efforts in Agartala, with scientific methods enhancing civic services. He appealed to local clubs and social organizations to promote cleanliness and civic responsibility. The welcome speech was delivered by AMC Commissioner Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, while Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta and other dignitaries graced the event. Judges of the Sharad Samman were also felicitated with mementos presented by the Chief Minister.
