In a landmark initiative to engage the youth in social awareness and promote healthy competition, the Food and Transport Departments of the Tripura government have joined forces to launch Jagriti Quiz, Tripura 2025. The district-level mega quiz competition, aimed at raising awareness on critical topics such as consumer protection laws, road safety, and anti-drug measures, was announced by Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury during a press conference at the Civil Secretariat on Saturday.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Minister Chowdhury said, “This quiz is not just a competition but an educational platform to empower our youth with knowledge about pressing social issues, ensuring they grow into informed and responsible citizens. We are also contemplating including topics like road safety and consumer awareness in the school curriculum.”
Event Details and Structure
The competition, a first-of-its-kind in the state, is set to begin on January 11, 2025, and is expected to witness enthusiastic participation from colleges and universities across Tripura. The quiz will be conducted in two phases:
- District-Level Rounds (January 11–27, 2025): These will be held in eight districts, including South Tripura, Gomati, Sepahijala, North Tripura, Unakoti, Dhalai, West Tripura, and Khowai.
- State-Level Final (February 8, 2025): The finale will take place at Rabindra Bhavan, Agartala, where district-level winners will compete for the top honors.
Key Collaborations and Participants
The quiz has garnered support from key partners, including tripurainfo.com and the School of Science, ensuring its smooth execution and widespread impact. It will be conducted by Abhijit Bhattacharya, Principal of the School of Science, and Nandu Kumar Panicker, Deputy Secretary, General Administration. Adding a unique touch, Madhuja Debnath, a seventh-grade student, will also take part as a quiz master. Anchoring duties will be handled by Shubhrajit Bhattacharya and Subhashis Kar.
