The Tripura government is actively working to transform the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur into a global spiritual tourism destination, announced Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury during the State Assembly on Thursday. With an allocation of around Rs 25.27 crore, the government aims to enhance the temple's infrastructure, hoping for its completion within this financial year.

Chowdhury highlighted that the project is part of a broader effort to boost the state's tourism, with support from the Ministry of Tourism under the PRASAD scheme. The state is also developing new tourist centers, including the Surma Chhara Waterfalls in Kamalpur, Shaheed Dhananjay Memorial Park in South Tripura, and the Indo-Bangla Maitri Park in Chottakhola.

In addition to these developments, the government is collaborating with the Asian Development Bank to improve tourism infrastructure at various key locations such as Chabimura, Sonamukhi, and the Fourteen Gods Temple. To promote Tripura’s tourism potential, the state is participating in fairs in major cities like Kolkata, Delhi, and Ahmedabad.

Further advancements include the construction of 41 modern log huts at different tourist spots, with plans for 10 more in progress. A light and sound show at Ujjayanta Palace and motorized boats at Narikel Kunja are also part of the ongoing projects.

Minister Chowdhury also announced future plans, such as developing home stays at Narikel Kunja and Jampui Hills, and improving tourism infrastructure at Unakoti and Agartala. A recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will also see the construction of ropeways at key tourist locations, including Matabari and Chabimura.
