According to Public Prosecutor Sunirmal Deb, Ramiz Ali, a resident of Khowrabil village, married 27-year-old Rosna Begum of Dhaliyakandi village in May 2019. The abuse escalated, and on the night of January 6, 2020, Ramiz attacked Rosna with a sharp spade, killing her instantly.

The next day, Ramiz informed Rosna’s mother, Neshrun Bibi, who discovered her daughter’s bloodied body at Ramiz’s home. She immediately reported the incident to the Irani Police Station. Ramiz initially fled but was apprehended three days later by Investigating Officer Aparna Debnath.

The police filed a charge sheet on May 31, 2020. During the trial, 22 witnesses testified against Ramiz, leading to his conviction by Judge Sudipta Chowdhury on Saturday.
