Tripura CM Manik Saha backs BJP candidate Rajdeep Roy in Silchar, predicting a massive win. Rally highlights development agenda under Narendra Modi and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will register a sweeping victory in the Silchar Assembly constituency in the upcoming elections, asserting that the party’s candidate Rajdeep Roy is poised to win by a “huge margin.”
Addressing a large gathering at Kirtania Ground on Satsang Ashram Road in Silchar, Saha highlighted the growing public support for the BJP and its development-driven governance model. The rally, described as a “Vijay Sankalp” (victory resolve) meeting, drew significant participation from party workers, supporters, and local residents.
Strong Push for Development-Oriented Governance
During his address, Saha emphasized that the people of Silchar are determined to support the BJP for the third consecutive term in Assam. He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for driving sustained development across the state.
“The people have full faith in the leadership of the Prime Minister. Under his guidance, India is moving steadily on the path of progress,” Saha stated. He further added that Assam has witnessed a continuous wave of development initiatives, which the BJP aims to accelerate further.

Calling upon voters to strengthen the hands of the Prime Minister, Saha urged citizens to actively participate in shaping the future of the Northeast, which he described as a key pillar of India’s growth story.
Business Community Backs BJP Leadership
Earlier in the day, Saha also interacted with prominent business leaders and entrepreneurs in Silchar in the presence of Rajdeep Roy. He noted that the business community showed strong enthusiasm for development-focused governance.
“Their commitment and confidence in BJP’s leadership are inspiring. They believe that only a stable and development-oriented government can ensure rapid economic growth and a brighter future for Silchar,” Saha said.
This engagement with the business sector reflects BJP’s broader strategy of highlighting economic growth, infrastructure development, and investment opportunities in the region.
Sharp Attack on Congress and UPA
In a direct political attack, Saha criticized the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance, calling it a “corrupt government.” He contrasted it with the BJP-led administration at the Centre, which he said prioritizes transparency, accountability, and good governance.

“Before 2014, the country faced uncertainty, corruption, and security challenges. The situation has drastically improved under the current leadership,” he asserted.
Saha also referred to political developments in Tripura, stating that the BJP ended what he termed “35 years of misrule” by the Left Front, marking a significant turning point in the state’s political landscape.
Northeast at the Heart of India’s Growth Vision
Highlighting the strategic importance of the Northeast, Saha reiterated that the region has been described as “Ashtalakshmi” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, symbolizing its crucial role in national development.
He pointed to the government’s Act East Policy as a major driver of economic and infrastructural progress in the region, aimed at enhancing connectivity, trade, and regional integration.
“India’s growth story is incomplete without the development of the Northeast. The BJP government is fully committed to unlocking the region’s potential,” Saha added.
Political Momentum Builds Ahead of Polls
Saha’s visit comes at a time when political activity is intensifying in both Assam and Tripura. He mentioned that upcoming elections, including those to the TTAADC and a by-election in Dharmanagar, are crucial for the BJP.
Despite his busy schedule, Saha said he attended the Silchar rally in response to the strong enthusiasm of party supporters. “Coming to Silchar feels like coming to Agartala. The cultural and emotional ties between the people of the two regions are deep,” he remarked.
He also informed that senior leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, are expected to campaign in the region, further boosting BJP’s electoral prospects.
Key Leaders Attend Rally
The rally witnessed the presence of several prominent BJP leaders, including Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya, MLAs Dipayan Chakraborty and Nihar Kanti Das, as well as former district president Bimalendu Roy.
Notably, Rajdeep Roy, a former Lok Sabha MP and party observer for Tripura, has been fielded by the BJP in place of sitting MLA Dipayan Chakraborty.
