Tripura secures national recognition as three panchayats win top honours in Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar 2025, highlighting grassroots governance excellence, rural development success, and inclusive growth under Chief Minister Manik Saha’s leadership.

In a remarkable achievement for grassroots governance, the state of Tripura has earned national recognition as three of its panchayat institutions secured top honours in the prestigious Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar 2025. The awards, conferred by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, celebrate excellence in rural governance, sustainability, and inclusive development across India.

Announcing the milestone, Chief Minister Manik Saha described the achievement as a proud moment for the state and a testament to its steady progress in strengthening local governance systems. He emphasized that the recognition reflects the dedication and efficiency of grassroots institutions in delivering people-centric services.

According to official results, Sepahijala district secured the top position in the Best District Panchayat category, showcasing exemplary administrative practices and development initiatives. Meanwhile, Kanchabari Gram Panchayat claimed first place in the Healthy Panchayat category, highlighting its outstanding performance in healthcare, sanitation, and community well-being. Adding to the state’s success, Baikunthapur Gram Panchayat earned third place in the Women-Friendly Panchayat category, reflecting its commitment to gender inclusivity and empowerment.

The awards also bring significant financial incentives, aimed at further strengthening rural development initiatives. Sepahijala district will receive Rs 5 crore, Kanchabari Gram Panchayat Rs 1 crore, and Baikunthapur Gram Panchayat Rs 50 lakh. These funds are expected to enhance infrastructure, improve public services, and support sustainable development projects across these regions.

Chief Minister Manik Saha extended his congratulations to elected representatives, government officials, and local residents, acknowledging their collective efforts in achieving this milestone. He noted that the awards underscore the effectiveness of policies and initiatives implemented at the grassroots level, which have contributed to improved governance outcomes.

“This achievement is a matter of immense pride for our state. It demonstrates that our panchayats are playing a vital role in strengthening democracy at the village level while ensuring efficient and transparent administration,” Dr. Saha stated. He further added that such national recognition would inspire other local bodies in Tripura to strive for excellence and innovation in rural governance.
