The state government is making strides in providing superior health services to its citizens, as stated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha during the inauguration of the 20th foundation day of Agartala Government Medical College at Carl Landsteiner Auditorium today.
Highlighting the government's commitment, Chief Minister Saha emphasized that the expansion of advanced health services and the development of infrastructure are top priorities. He acknowledged the significant contributions of those who played a role in establishing the college and stressed the vital role of students in its continued success.
"Our students are as talented as those in any other part of the country," Chief Minister Saha remarked. "The infrastructure of this college is on par with the best medical colleges in India. It is the responsibility of the students to honor this institution through their dedication to studies and service."
In recognition of the college's achievements, the Chief Minister noted that over 1,100 students have graduated with MBBS degrees, and approximately 300 postgraduate students have completed their education from the institution. These alumni are now making significant contributions across the state and the nation.
"The idea of kidney transplants being possible in Rajo was once unthinkable," said Chief Minister Saha. "But this success has been realized under the current government. We are working towards establishing Tripura as a medical hub with a multi-faceted plan to enhance the quality of health services. District hospitals are also being upgraded to provide better services."
The event also saw the release of the college's annual report and the recognition of MBBS students for their outstanding academic achievements. Chief Minister Saha, along with other dignitaries, presented mementos and certificates to the students.
Health Secretary Kiran Kumar Gitye, Principal of Agartala Government Medical College Anup Kumar Saha, Assistant Principal Dr. Tapan Majumdar, Acting Health Secretary Brahmiat Kaur, Director of Health Dr. Sanjeev Debbarma, Director of Health and Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Medical Education Dr. HP Sharma, and Managing Director of National Health Mission Tripura Branch Rajeev Dutta were present at the event.
