The event took place in the Chief Minister's War Room at TIFT and aimed to harness the expertise of non-resident Tripurians to promote the state’s cultural heritage and drive its development on a global platform.
Approximately 60 non-resident Tripurians from across India and abroad participated in the summit, underscoring a collective commitment to collaboration. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha joined the summit unexpectedly, lending his support to the initiative.
Senior officials representing the state government played a prominent role in the event, including Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Good Governance Department; Paramananda Sarkar Banerjee, OSD to the Chief Minister; Viswashree B., Director of Industries and Commerce; Dr. Samit Roy Chowdhury, State Mission Director of NHM; Prashant Badal Negi, Director of Tourism; and other key representatives.
The summit opened with remarks from Kiran Gitte, who highlighted the historical importance of non-resident Indian engagement, drawing a parallel to Mahatma Gandhi’s return to India in 1915 and the annual celebration of Prabashi Bharatiya Diwas since 2003. He described the summit as a continuation of this tradition, tailored to Tripura’s unique identity and aspirations. Gitte emphasized that the primary objective was to showcase Tripura’s rich cultural heritage and recent advancements to the world through its diaspora. He also highlighted the state’s progress in healthcare, education, communication, tourism, economic growth, and industrial potential.
The Chief Minister’s OSD reiterated the government’s dedication to strengthening ties with the diaspora, recognizing their role as critical stakeholders in Tripura’s development journey.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mohammad Sajjad P., Director of the Skill Development Department, leaving participants optimistic about a future shaped by the shared efforts of the state’s residents and its global community. The Prabashi Tripurabashi Summit-2025 set a historic precedent, laying the groundwork for sustained engagement with the diaspora to advance Tripura’s growth and global presence.
