BJP Hits Back at CPI(M) and Congress, Accuses Opposition of False Propaganda

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the opposition CPI(M) and Congress, accusing them of orchestrating a malicious campaign to discredit the BJP-led government.
Addressing a press conference, BJP state spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee dismissed the opposition’s allegations, stating that the Congress has effectively become the “frontline soldier” of the CPI(M) in the state. His remarks were in response to the Congress’ recent claims that unemployment had surged under the BJP’s rule.
BJP Defends Employment Record, Rejects Opposition’s Allegations
Bhattacharjee refuted the Congress’ accusations, asserting that the BJP government has prioritized employment generation and implemented a transparent recruitment process.
"Our government has provided 17,645 jobs over the last seven years through a fair and transparent system. There is no evidence of corruption in these appointments," he declared.
He accused the opposition of deliberately misleading the public by twisting facts to tarnish the BJP’s image.
“An opposition party organized a mass gathering right after our event and tried to defame the government. Before that, the CPI(M) labeled us as a ‘commission-based government,’ which is nothing but an attempt to mislead people. The BJP is committed to the overall development of Tripura and its people,” he said.
Opposition's History of Corruption in Recruitment, Claims BJP
Taking a dig at previous governments, Bhattacharjee alleged that under the Congress and CPI(M) regimes, job appointments were distributed as personal favors rather than being based on merit.
"During their tenure, job offers were handed out like wedding gifts. In 1990, the appointment of Tripura Civil Service (TCS) and Tripura Police Service (TPS) officers blatantly violated constitutional norms. Back then, jobs were literally in the pockets of political leaders and ministers," he said.
BJP’s Achievements: Development, Security, and Stability
Bhattacharjee highlighted the progress made under the BJP government, claiming that Tripura has seen a drastic decline in terrorism and crime.
"Today, terrorism has been wiped out from Tripura, and the youth are getting employment because of the government’s dedicated efforts. Under Congress and CPI(M) rule, terrorism and kidnappings were daily occurrences, and people suffered from starvation, malnutrition, and deadly diseases like malaria," he stated.
BJP Accuses Congress of Fearmongering
The BJP spokesperson further accused the Congress of spreading misinformation because it fears the BJP’s growing popularity in the state.
“The Congress and CPI(M) know that the people of Tripura are supporting the BJP. That’s why they are spreading false information to mislead the public. But the people will not be fooled,” he asserted.
As the political battle intensifies in Tripura, both the ruling BJP and opposition parties continue to trade accusations, setting the stage for a heated electoral contest in the state.
