Five Trinamool Congress activists including two MPs from West Bengal- Dola Sen and Aparupa Podder were attacked twice first at at Nandigram of Tripura’s Sabroom sub-division and then in Belonia. They had gone there without informing the police, said senior officers while confirming the incident. Media of the state were also in dark about their programme.
Dola Sen alleged that their cars were stopped on road by a group of the bike-borne BJP activists who started pelting stone on them.
“They also threw away some documents and mobile phone from MP Aparupa Poddar”, Sen told the media. She also alleged that the policemen had turned mute spectator leaving a space to the attackers.
According to the MP, she had sought support from the policemen present at the spot as well as called the Director General of Police following the incident but they didn’t provide any help except assurance.
“After this incident we faced yet another attacks near Belonia police station where miscreants pelted stones and threw other objects on the running vehicle,” she told the media.
Superintendent of Police, South Tripura- Kulwant Singh confirmed the attack incident and said “police didn’t have any prior information regarding movement of the TMC workers.”
Meanwhile, some of the injured persons had sustained serious injuries in the attack incident and there were shifted to GBP hospital.
