Deb in his speech gave details of the development works and achievements of the state government since 2018 and said the process of the development would continue in the coming days, with more thrust and vigour. He touched upon the areas like infrastructure, self-employment generation, rail, road and air communications where unprecedented development had taken place during the BJP-IPFT government.

The Chief Minister before his speech was accorded guard of honour by the secutity forces.

Tripura police and paramilitary forces presented an impressive Independence Day March on the occasion. The Chief Minister also awarded policemen for their services.

The chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb today unfurled the tricolor in the Assam Rifles ground in the official programme of the 75th independence day. Many guests invited on the occasion had taken their seats well ahead of the scheduled time of flag-hoisting at 9-10 AM. Biplab Deb ritually travelled around the field in an official vehicle and took salutation from people and later stood on the dais observing the march past by security forces.

In his independence address the chief minister gave a detailed account of the performance of his government and said that his priority is to ensure ‘Neeti’, ‘Niyot’ and ‘Niyog’. Biplab said that Tripura is now in a stage of rapid progress in the matter of infrastructure building as hundreds of kms of four-lane roads are being built , railway is being expanded and more and more people are getting employment in all subsidiary sectors. The chief minister also gave a detailed account of the ‘unprecedented development’ in the state and conversion of the state’s youths from job-seekers into job-givers.

It is expected that by 2025, Tripura would do business of Rs 2,000 crore from the ‘Agar wood’ industry and it was planned to plant 50 lakh Agar tree saplings in the next five years, Deb said..
The Chief Minister said that the Union Tribal Affairs Ministry in association with the state government has identified 375 tribal dominated villages to make them as ‘model villages’ providing all basic facilities and services and also to improve the livelihood of the tribal villagers.
He announced that with the investment of over Rs 916 crore, natural rubber cultivation would be expanded in 30,000 hectare new areas by 2025-26.
