Trinamool Congress leader of Tripura Mujibar Islam Majumdar passed away at 6 .15 am on Wednesday morning at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata. He suffered a fatal cardiac arrest. Earlier also he had suffered two massive cardiac arrest.

Mujibar who was in Kolkata hospital for teatment following attack on him allegedly by some BJP supporters on August 28 last at his residence along with another TMC leader Subhankar Majumdar. Besides, Mujibar Islam and Subhankar three other TMC supporters were injured in the attack.

His elder brother and BJP leader Dr Baharul Islam Majumdar said they were trying to bring his mortal remains in Agartala.  Both Dr Baharul and Mujibar are sons of former Agriculture minister Mansur Ali .

Mujibar Islam Majumdar  following his family’s legacy had always been in the politics. He was a student leader of NSUI in the eighties and later joined Congress. He remained with the Congress till recently . Only when TMC came to Tripura this time he joined the party.

He was known for his amiable nature. Calm and quiet Mujibar Isam was loved and respected by all.

Sources said, TMC is planning for  a Raj Bhawan Abhiyan when his mortal remains will reach here.
