Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Ratan Chakrabarty cancelled the legislative membership of renegade BJP MLA Asish Das.

Asish Das who had won the last assemblyelections form 46 Surma SC Seath had joined the Trinamool COngress and been vocal against the BJP. He had even shaved his head in repentance for joining the BJP and declared that he would not grow hair until the BJP was voted out of power from Tripura. Since then Das was trying to put the party from whose ticket he had won the polls into poor light with one or two events almost every day.

Though in the meantime he had formally joined the TMC  the new party also seemed not much interetested to use him  apparently for his behavioural aberrations.

However, recently BJP Chief Whip wrote to Speaker Ratan Chakrabarty to expel Das as per the Parliamentary rules. On Wednesday The Speaker invoked various sections of the Rule 10 of the Parliamentary codes and expelled him from the Assembly.

There is one more MLA over whom the axe was hanging is Brishaketu Debbarma of IPFT. Birishaketu won the election from Simna ST reserved seat from IPFT ticket but later joined the TIPRA Motha. He had applied for cancellation of his membership but due to technical reason the matter is still kept in abeyance ad the Speaker did not take any decision in this regard.
