TIPRA Motha is contemplating to fight assembly elections, apart from all the 20 ST reserved seats, also from the constituencies which have a considerable electors belonging to indigenous communities. The party has identified 15 such constituencies across the state. The TIPRA Motha is presently ruling the TTAADC.
The party which held an impressive rally at Swami Vivekananda maidan on Saturday also made it clear that it would forge alliance with other party only when a written promise would given for constitutional solution to the Greater Tipraland demand. Otherwise, the TIPRA Motha wouldl fight the ensuing assembly polls alone and will contest as many as 35 seats.
Thousands of people from various parts of the state, particularly from the TTAADC areas, joined a rally to press the demand for Greater Tipraland.
Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma said “only 10 months are left. If a constitutional solution is not given in writing for our demand of Greater Tipraland, we will contest the assembly polls in 35 seats alone,”.
“We are not against any religion or community, our protest is for Greater Tipraland within the Constitution of India”, he said. He claimed that no regional party could hold such a massive rally in the state before.
“The rally is an answer to those who say Greater Tipraland is not possible. This is called thansa (unity). The people from all tribes of the state are in attendance to speak about their constitutional rights,” he said.
He also claimed that there was no torture on anybody since Tipra Motha came to power in ADC one year ago.
Chief Executive Member of TTAADC- Purna Chandra Jamatia, Deputy CEM Animesh Debbarma and chairman Jagadish Debbarma along with others including Tipra Motha president Bijay Hrankhwal were present in the rally.
