In a gruesome murder a woman beheaded her husband last night at RC Ghat in Khowai. Police arrested the woman Sabitri Tanti (42) who was, according to her minor son, was acting abnormally for the last few days.

He said, last night his mother Sabitri hacked off the head of Rabindra Tanti (50) while he was asleep. She then hung the severed head in a room.

“After dinner we all went to sleep. My maternal uncle was also with us. I slept with my father. But at night suddenly I woke up a saw my mother was standing by the side of our bed and was staring at us insanely. I told her to go to bed and then fell asleep. My father was also sleeping.”

“But at mid night I felt unusual warmth and woke only to see my mother was sitting near our head with a bloody dao in hand. I then noticed my father’s body was lying in a pool of blood and his head was severed. My mother was still looking abnormally. I then ran off to my maternal uncle and told him about the incident”, the 11 years old boy said. He has a younger brother.

The boy said his mother was acting strangely for the last few days and they had also got her treated by an ojha.

“My father and mother did not quarrel or argued. But she was not normal for the last few days”.

Police said, case has been registered, the woman was arrested and an investigation began. The Forensic team from Agartala also reached the spot.
