Priority has been given to modernize the electricity service in the state as well as providing uninterrupted power service in the state. For this purpose, the work of flagship projects for the development of electricity services should be implemented quickly with transparency. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) ManikSaha said this in a review meeting on the flagship programme of the Power Department at the Secretariat Conference Hall on 2nd August, 2022. In the review meeting, the Chief Minister also said that those who want to get electricity service should be encouraged andconnectionshouldbe given. Chief Minister directed to take strict action against hook line users if necessary. The department should keep an eye on the matter so that the customers are not subjected to any kind of harassment. Chief Minister said that work needs to be done seriously from now onwards to ensure uninterrupted power supply during Durga Puja.

In the review meeting, Chief Minister said that when customers call the customer service centres, it is necessary to treat the customers politely and give correct information to the customers. Power sub-stations in the state are required to be inspected from time to time. He said, maintenance of transformers should also be given importance. The Chief Minister also advised TSECL officials to install solar lights around the identified ‘AmritSarovars’ in the state.

In the meeting, Secretary of Tripura State Power Department, Brijesh Pandey said that Tripura State Electricity Corporation is working on various plans for uninterrupted power supply in the state. He said that more sub-stations will be set up across the state by next December. He said that a total of 22,500 street lights have been installed across the state. Installation of more lights is under progress and 3 lakh study lamps have been provided in the state so far. Till July of this year, 1,057 solar pumps have been provided under the Pradhan MantriKusum scheme and there is a target of giving more, which will be completed by February next year. He said that an initiative has been taken to build a model village based on solar power in the state. Also in the meeting, Secretary discussed, DeenDayalUpadhyaya-Gram JyotiYojana, projects related to various departments of Central and State Governments, transmission lines, number of electricity consumers in the state, power generation plants. In the meeting, the secretary discussed about various programmes before puja, office programmess before and after monsoon, repair of jumpers, customer service centre. In this context, Chief Minister directed to make the call center of TSECL more developed and functional.

Deputy Chief Minister, Jishnu Dev Varmawho is also the Minister of Power,Chief Secretary J.K Sinha,TSECL Managing Director, Debashis Sarkar and other senior officials of the department were present in the review meeting.
