The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSEwill promote ‘almost’ all candidates who appeared in Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Examinations this year.
Earlier the TBSE had declared pass percentage of 80.62 percent in Madhyamik and 95.20% in Higher Secondary in 2021. Now it would be by and large 100 per cent.
The decision came close on the heels of recent students’ agitations. After the agitations and complaints from individuals the TBSE reviewed the results and found faults in a few cases following which it was decided to promote all the candidates, the Board president told the media.
Dr. Bhavatosh Saha, president TBSE said “almost all candidates of Madhyamik and Higher Secondary will be promoted. The decision has been taken after reviewing the results, considering the students’ movement and all other aspects.”
This year the full-fledged Board examinations couldn’t be held due to Covid pandemic. The numbers were given based on expert committee’s recommendation as per the pre-board marks sent by the concerned schools, he said.
However, he said ‘some Higher Secondary candidates didn’t appear in practical examination and without practical they can’t be promoted. So, they have to go for practical examination in September next. Besides, the candidates who are not satisfied with the results may appear in re-examination; they have to apply in their respective schools by August 23 next’.
This year, according to Board sources, total 39,987 regular candidates from 1066 schools and another 24,283 students from 419 schools were enrolled for Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations. Among them, 9,000 Madhyamik candidates and 1200 candidates of Higher Secondary had failed to qualify the examinations as per the results announced by the TBSE recently.
