Tamil Nadu government reshuffled senior IAS officers across Finance, Revenue, Tourism, and TASMAC departments under Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s administration. Key bureaucratic transfers include M.A. Siddique, N. Muruganandam, and K. Nanthakumar as the state begins major administrative restructuring.

The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday carried out a major bureaucratic reshuffle involving several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, introducing key changes across departments such as Finance, Revenue Administration, Tourism, and the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC).

The transfer and posting orders were issued by Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar in the name of the Governor as part of a broader administrative restructuring initiative undertaken by the newly formed government led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

One of the most significant appointments announced in the reshuffle was the posting of senior IAS officer N. Muruganandam as Additional Chief Secretary and Commissioner of Revenue Administration and Disaster Management. Muruganandam, who recently returned from leave, takes over the role previously held as additional charge by P. Amudha.

The Revenue Administration and Disaster Management Department is considered one of the state’s most crucial wings, particularly in handling emergency response, flood preparedness, and district-level governance coordination. The appointment of Muruganandam is expected to strengthen administrative efficiency in these critical areas.

In another major development, M.A. Siddique, who had been serving as Additional Chief Secretary and Managing Director of Chennai Metro Rail Limited, has been transferred and appointed as Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department. He replaces T. Udhayachandran in one of the state’s most influential administrative portfolios.

The Finance Department plays a vital role in budget management, revenue planning, welfare allocations, and implementation of fiscal policies. Siddique’s appointment comes at a time when the new government is expected to focus heavily on infrastructure spending and economic development initiatives.

The reshuffle also brought changes to the Tourism, Culture, and Religious Endowments Department. Dr S. Swarna, who previously served as Principal Secretary and State Project Director of the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), has been appointed Principal Secretary of the Tourism, Culture, and Religious Endowments Department.

She succeeds Dr K. Manivasan, who had been holding additional charge of the department. Officials indicated that the move is aimed at strengthening tourism promotion and cultural administration in the state.

Another key appointment was made in the administration of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation, commonly known as TASMAC. The government placed the services of K. Nanthakumar, currently serving as Registrar of Cooperative Societies, at the disposal of TASMAC for appointment as its Managing Director. He replaces T. Christuraj.

According to the government order, Nanthakumar’s deputation terms and conditions on foreign service will be governed under the provisions specified in G.O. Ms No. 167 issued by the Public (Special-A) Department on February 21, 1994.

The latest reshuffle comes only days after the TVK-led administration assumed office on Sunday. Political observers believe the transfers reflect the government’s attempt to place experienced officers in strategic departments as it begins implementing its governance priorities and administrative reforms across Tamil Nadu.
