Tamil Nadu Assembly elections witness massive voter turnout as stars like Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Rajinikanth, and Kamal Haasan cast votes across Chennai, urging citizens to participate in democratic process amid high-stakes political contest.
A high-profile turnout of film personalities added visibility to the ongoing Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on Thursday, as several leading actors and directors stepped out early to exercise their democratic rights across Chennai and other constituencies.
Among the prominent voters was Vijay Sethupathi, who cast his vote at a polling booth located in Kilpauk Garden. After voting, he briefly interacted with the media, displaying his inked finger and urging citizens to participate actively in the electoral process. The actor’s presence drew attention from fans gathered near the polling station.
Several other well-known figures from the Tamil film industry were also seen participating in the voting process. Actress Trisha Krishnan cast her vote at a school in Chennai, while comedian-actor Santhanam exercised his franchise at a polling center in Pozhichalur. Actors Nikki Galrani and Aadhi Pinisetty were spotted voting at Ethiraj College.
Actor Siddharth voted in Alwarpet, while National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh cast her ballot in Neelankarai. Actress Aishwarya Rajesh also participated in the voting process at a polling booth in T Nagar.
Renowned filmmaker S. Shankar, accompanied by his daughter and actress Aditi Shankar, voted together at a city-based school. Their presence highlighted the importance of civic participation among public figures.
Earlier in the day, actor-turned-politician Vijay cast his vote in Neelankarai. His parents, veteran filmmakers S. A. Chandrasekhar and Shoba Chandrasekhar, also voted at a government school in Adyar.
Filmmaker H. Vinoth cast his vote in Anaicut, while director Pa. Ranjith voted in his native village. Director Atlee also joined the electorate at a Chennai polling booth.
Superstar Rajinikanth and his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth voted at Stella Maris College, while actor-politician Kamal Haasan arrived with his daughter Shruti Haasan to cast their votes in Teynampet.
Actor Vikram voted at a school in Besant Nagar, while Gautham Karthik exercised his right at Stella Maris College. Actor Ajith Kumar, who had recently returned from Belgium after participating in a racing event, was among the early voters in Thiruvanmiyur.
Music composer Anirudh Ravichander and actor Dhanush also cast their votes in the morning hours at Alwarpet.

Polling for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly is being conducted in a single phase, with over 4,000 candidates contesting across constituencies. Authorities have implemented extensive security measures to ensure smooth and fair polling. The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
The active participation of film celebrities not only highlighted the significance of the electoral process but also served as an encouragement for the general public to step out and vote, reinforcing the spirit of democracy across the state.
