Amidst escalating allegations of rampant corruption, the Directorate of Social Welfare and Social Education (SW&SE) has taken swift action by conducting preliminary enquiries against Ayan Bhaumik, CDPO of Kadamtala ICDS, and Sribash Chandra Paul, Jr SEO. Following the inquiry, both Bhaumik and Paul have been suspended from their positions.
Media reports had brought to light grave accusations, including alleged embezzlement and illicit practices by Bhaumik and Paul. It was suggested that they were surreptitiously providing substandard quantities of rice to Anganwadi centers and illicitly hoarding rice for sale on the market. Ultimately, due to their inability to offload the illegally acquired rice, it was purported that the rice was destroyed.
In addition, there were claims of irregularities in the tender process, with allegations of manipulating contracts to favor higher bidders at the expense of more reasonable offers.
In response to the swirling allegations, the SW&SE swiftly initiated a preliminary enquiry into the matter. The results of the inquiry revealed that the charges against Bhaumik and Paul were substantiated and accurate. As a result, the decision to suspend both individuals was taken as part of the ongoing disciplinary proceedings.
While under suspension, Bhaumik and Paul have been instructed to remain stationed at their designated headquarters in Kadamtala, North Tripura. Any departures from their assigned headquarters must be accompanied by prior permission from the Director of SW&SE.
The suspension order has been met with approval and support from the local populace, who have been vocal in their opposition to the alleged wrongdoings. As investigations proceed and appropriate actions are taken, the SW&SE remains committed to upholding transparency and accountability, thereby ensuring the welfare of those it serves.
