

A group of pilgrims from the state were returning to New Delhi recently after touring Brindaban and other pilgrimage sites. But they got stuck and faced misery as they could not catch the train on time at New Delhi railway station.
With the prompt intervention of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, arrangements were made to bring the stranded pilgrims back to the state. 136 stranded pilgrims are being brought back to the state by Tejas Rajdhani Express train at government expense under the initiative of the state transport department. The state government will bear all the expenses in this regard. The officials of Tripura Bhavan in New Delhi have taken care of the concerned pilgrims.
Meanwhile, Gitarani Das (Husband-Rajkumar Das) of Madhya Dukli one of the member of the pilgrim group, died suddenly. The state government has provided financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the family of deceased Gitarani Das. Besides, assistance has been given to perform funeral rites in Delhi.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury is in regular touch with the Union Ministry of Railways to bring pilgrims back to the state. The Transport Minister directed the officials of the state transport department to take prompt measures.
