
The demand of the TIPRA Motha for Constitutional solution to the problems of the indigenous people will be resolved by involving all stakeholders – the state government, civil societies and others who may have different views and opinions, said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who is presently handling the matter on behalf of the Union government.
While the Assam Chief Minister assured the TIPRA Motha delegation in Guwahati on Thursday night that an interlocutor would definitely be appointed as promised by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, for that some more was required to finalize the modalities. He asked the TIPRA Motha leaders including its chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarman to be patient and have full faith on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah who were keen to solve the issue in right earnest.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, the meeting with the TIPRA Motha delegation led by its chairman Pradyot Kishore Debbarman was very open and extensive and fruitful where he asked the tribal leaders to be a little bit of patient and have confidence and full trust on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah- who are keen to solve the issues.
But, he said, “time is needed to put the entire process in a systematic manner”.
Biswa Sarma while referring to the series of talks that had been held with the TIPRA Motha and the central leadership, said that there were some problems of the Tripura tribal people but to ‘resolve the tribal problem you need to talk to every sections. You cannot solve the problem with one or two sittings , there are many stakeholders, you need to talk to them”.
“In my yesterday’s discussions I told the TIPRA Motha leaders that in the discussions you need to involve the government of Tripura and also the other civil society organizations because there may be some claims and counter claims”, said Biswa Sarma adding that all recognized the problem and everyone was keen to solve the issue.
The NEDA Convenor also indicated that there were already some roadmaps put in place but these could be finalized only after such detailed and threadbare discussions.
“: I requested them to have patience and have trust on the Prime Minister and the Home Minister”, he said adding that to resolve the issue some time was needed to do it in a systematic manner.
The Assam Chief Minister said that he would play the role as required and communicate between the Centre and TIPRA Motha whenever required.
