The state government is planning to expand the horizon of the smart city facilities from capital to other semi urban areas too, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha while launching three Smart City projects in Banamalipur locality of Agartala on Friday.
The three projects that were launched by Chief Minister Dr Saha along with former Chief Minister biplab Kumar Deb and other concerned officials included upgradation of MBB College road from Math Chowmuhani to College Gate, underground cable of 11KV LT line from Math Chowmuhani to MBB College Gate and development of three water bodies. Total cost of the projects stood at Rs . 14.55 crore.
“After the Agartala Smart City projects are completed we shall reach out to the other subdivisions and semi urban areas also with the facilities of the Smart City”, the Chief Minister said.
“This will compliment Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dreams relating to the North East”, he said.
Visibly satisfied at the upgradation of the road leading to MBB College Dr Saha felt that it could be projected as a model for other roads too.
Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said, it was due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s love for Tripura that Agartala was included in the Smart City project.
“In total the expenditure for making the Agartala a Smart City more than Rs.1000 crore would be spent by the Agartala Smart City Mission. And of the entire amount a huge sum of Rs. 667 crore would be spent in Banamalipur alone”, said Deb who is also elected from this constituency. Deb also called upon all to ensure proper maintenance of the infrastructures that were being made under the project.
Urban Development Minister Manoj Kanti Deb, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, MLA Dr. Dilip Das, CEO of Agartala Smart City Limited Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta and others were present in the programme.
