Actress Tisca Chopra praises Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, calling it an emotional and empowering film that beautifully portrays neurodivergence. Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the movie is a remake of Champions and features neurodivergent actors in leading roles. A must-watch film celebrating diversity and joy.

Veteran actress Tisca Chopra, known for her poignant performance in the 2007 masterpiece Taare Zameen Par, recently watched Aamir Khan’s latest offering Sitaare Zameen Par and couldn’t stop raving about it. Calling it a spiritual successor to their earlier collaboration, Tisca praised the sports comedy drama for its heartwarming message and sensitive portrayal of neurodivergence.

Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, hit theatres on June 20 and is an official remake of the 2018 Spanish film Champions. The film has already started generating buzz for its emotionally resonant narrative, diverse casting, and uplifting tone.

Taking to Instagram, Tisca shared a candid photo with the team and poured her heart out in the caption: “What Aamir does, only Aamir does. Had the absolute fortune of watching Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by the immensely talented @rs.prasanna, with the entire cast and crew last night.”

The actress, who played a pivotal role in Taare Zameen Par, expressed her continued admiration for Aamir Khan’s artistic vision and dedication to meaningful cinema. “Having worked with Aamir on Taare Zameen Par and followed his extraordinary body of work over the years, my admiration for him—as both an actor and a filmmaker—only continues to grow,” she added.

Chopra emphasized the emotional core of the film and how it treats its subject matter with both honesty and compassion. “Sitaare is all heart! What stayed with me is how gently and powerfully the film establishes the idea that everyone’s normal is different,” she wrote.

Rather than presenting a story filled with pity or overt sentimentality, Tisca applauded the film for its empowering narrative. She was particularly moved by the authentic portrayal of neurodivergent adults, who are played by neurodivergent actors themselves. “This isn’t a sob story—it’s an empowering one… What moved me most was how the neurodivergent adults are portrayed—not with pity or exaggerated kindness, but with something far more beautiful: normalcy. Everyday, natural, joyous normalcy. Like anyone else. And that’s what makes this film truly special,” she noted.

In her heartfelt message, Tisca also took time to appreciate the cast, which includes Aroush Sunshine, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvi Desai, Aayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Vedant Sharma, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh, Simran Mangeshkar, and Naman Misra. “Always so heartwarming, always smiling. It’s impossible to be around them and not feel joy,” she shared.

Acknowledging the efforts behind the scenes, Tisca commended the casting team—Casting Bay, GhantaGhar Talkies, and Tess Joseph—for pulling off such a challenging task with grace. She also lauded the musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya for creating a soulful soundtrack that enhances the emotional depth of the film.

Tisca wrapped up her note with a special mention of Aparna Purohit and Aamir Khan Productions, stating, “A big shoutout to @aparnapurohit and @aamirkhanproductions for pulling this off so beautifully. A truly beautiful evening.”

In an industry hungry for authentic and uplifting narratives, Aamir Khan’s latest film offers a fresh and much-needed perspective on inclusion, joy, and the many shades of normalcy.
