Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur visited Donkyala Pass at an altitude of 18,200 feet, the second highest pass in the country, where he observed the Indo-China border and visited the Kerang ITBP base on Monday. He was accompanied by Mangan District Deputy Collector Anant Jain and senior officials of BRTF and ITBP.

During the visit, the Governor discussed with the senior officials of security forces regarding operational readiness and welfare measures for personnel deployed in this sensitive area. Later, the Governor visited Gurudongmar Lake, located at an altitude of 17,800 feet. He performed a puja at the lake and sought blessings. Gurudongmar Lake holds religious and strategic significance and is known for its partially unfrozen waters throughout the year.

After the visit to Gurudongmar Lake, the Governor went to the Army Transit Camp in Thangu, where he interacted with officers and soldiers, addressing issues related to operational logistics and personnel welfare. The visit concluded with interactions with army personnel at various strategic locations, reaffirming his focus on understanding and addressing the challenges faced by troops stationed in these remote areas.
