Sensex closed at 81,425, up 324 points & Nifty closed at 24,973, up 104 points

Benchmark domestic equity indices ended around 0.4 per cent higher today. The Sensex gained 324 points, to close at 81 thousand 425. Similarly, Nifty added 104 points to settle at 24 thousand 973. The broader market indices at the Bombay Stock Exchange also displayed a positive trend. The Mid-Cap index rose over 0.8 per cent, while the Small-Cap index increased over 0.7 per cent.
 
In the Sensex pack, 19 out of 30 companies edged upward. Among the top gainers, Bharat Electronics Limited expanded by over 4.2 per cent, HCL Tech rose by almost 2.6 per cent, and Bajaj Finance nearly 2.2 per cent. Among the top laggards, Mahindra and Mahindra fell nearly 2.5 per cent, Maruti dipped above 1.5 per cent, and Tata Motors decreased 0.9 per cent. 
 
In Sectoral indices at the BSE, 17 out of 21 sectors logged gains with the IT Pack emerging as the top performer for the second consecutive day. Focused IT surged over two and a half per cent, IT rose nearly two and a half per cent, and Capital Goods added almost 1.9 per cent. Among the top laggards, Auto dipped 1.2 per cent, Consumer Discretionary lost over 0.5 per cent, and Consumer Durables slipped over 0.2 per cent.
