A tragic accident occurred in the Malayanagar Nepali Tila area under Srinagar police station when a sand-laden truck lost control and plunged 40 feet down a slope. The driver, identified as Rakesh Debnath (38) from Anandnagar 10 No. Para, lost his life on the spot. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Three laborers traveling in the truck sustained injuries, with one reported to be in critical condition. According to locals, overspeeding of sand trucks in the area is a common issue, leading to frequent accidents.

Upon receiving the news, Srinagar police and Anandnagar fire brigade personnel rushed to the scene. With the help of local residents, a three-hour-long rescue operation was conducted to extricate the victims.

In a further mishap, the crane deployed to retrieve the crashed vehicle also toppled during the operation, adding to the challenges faced by the rescue team. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the accident.
