Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath threw an open challenge to the opposition to try no confidence motion in the next assembly session starting from Feb 17. His challenge came in the wake of Sudip Roy Barman and his followers’ recent statements that sought to indicate that ruling IPFT had lost majority status in the assembly.

“We are majority and we shall remain so”, he added.

While speaking to the reporters at Ujjayanta Palace compound where  Nath had accompanied students in their excursion and study tours, took a dig at Roy Barman and his followers saying that ‘every time they switch over a party, they would claim they faced suffocating situation. What is new there. They were repeating the same old statements”.

Nath said, in a democratic set up anyone can  join a political of his her choice.

He, however, stressed on the need of maintaining cordial relations at personal and individual levels amongst the politicians.

On by election to the vacant constituencies following resignation, death and expulsion of the MLAs the senior minister said the matter solely lies with Election Commission. It is them who would announce the elections. “But there are rules that election to the vacant assembly segments should be held within six months”, the Education Minister added.

On TET teachers’ recruitment Nath said the TRBT has neither yet given the list nor teachers got their certificate. It is for the absence of the TRBT certificates and list the state government despite prssing need to meet the scarcity of teachers could not appoint teachers.

He said while almost all TET passed teachers are likely to be accommodated in TET 1. In TET 2 perhaps all teachers cannot be accommodated at one go but government is trying to get them all too in TET 2, the minister said.
