With just a day remaining for the crucial elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), polling personnel across the state have begun their journey to designated polling stations under stringent security arrangements. Authorities have intensified logistical and security measures to ensure smooth, peaceful, and transparent voting on April 12.
Officials confirmed that polling will commence at 7 a.m. and continue across a total of 1,257 polling stations spread over 28 constituencies. Polling teams have been dispatched with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and other essential election materials, escorted by a strong presence of state police and paramilitary forces.
The administration has prioritized security during the transportation of polling staff and election equipment, given the sensitivity of certain areas. Security personnel have been strategically deployed to prevent any disruption and to maintain law and order throughout the electoral process.
In the Birchandra Kalsi constituency, identified as Seat No. 26, Returning Officer Shanti Ranjan Chakma confirmed that all preparations have been completed. The constituency comprises 45 polling stations and has a total electorate of 37,526 voters. Among them, 18,890 are women and 18,636 are men, reflecting a balanced voter demographic.
Authorities have ensured that polling teams reach their respective stations well ahead of time to avoid last-minute challenges. By Saturday evening, most polling personnel are expected to be stationed and ready to conduct voting operations efficiently.
To enhance election security, polling stations have been categorized based on vulnerability assessments. Sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths will witness heightened surveillance, with additional deployment of security forces. This classification aims to mitigate risks and uphold the integrity of the democratic process.
Election officials reiterated their commitment to conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections. They emphasized that robust coordination between administrative authorities and security agencies is in place to handle any unforeseen circumstances.
The TTAADC elections hold significant political importance in Tripura, as they directly impact governance and development in tribal areas. Voter turnout is expected to be substantial, given the heightened political engagement and awareness among citizens.
Meanwhile, strict monitoring mechanisms have been put in place to ensure adherence to election guidelines. Observers and senior officials will supervise the polling process, ensuring transparency at every stage.
